The NGO Committee on UNICEF is a New York-based coalition of NGOs affiliated with the United Nations, existing since the 1950s. The committee partners closely with UNICEF to advocate for the promotion and protection of children\u2019s rights worldwide. The NGO Committee on UNICEF is an entity officially mandated by UNICEF to represent civil society and interact with UNICEF\u2019s Executive Board. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n First and foremost, every member organization of the NGO Committee on UNICEF is committed to the promotion of the Convention on the Rights of the Child <\/em>. The membership of the NGO Committee on UNICEF is made up of organizations that are accredited through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations. Some members are solely child focused agencies, while others focus on children\u2019s welfare as a component of their work. Each organization liaises with the committee at its base in New York City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The NGO Committee on UNICEF works closely with UNICEF through their Division of Civil Society Partnerships. Through this mechanism the committee\u2019s membership and UNICEF are able to exchange ideas, receive updates, and collaborate.UNICEF Executive Board<\/p>\n\n\n\n The <\/a>UNICEF Executive Board<\/a><\/em> is the governing body of UNICEF, providing intergovernmental support and oversight to the organization, in accordance with the overall policy guidance of the United Nations General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council. The Executive Board is made up of 36 Member States, elected to three-year terms by the Economic and Social Council, with the following regional allocation: Africa (8 seats), Asia (7), Eastern Europe (4), Latin America and Caribbean (5) and Western Europe and Others (12). UNICEF Executive Board meetings are held three times per year. At each meeting, the NGO Committee on UNICEF delivers an intervention highlighting concerns and provides advice regarding issues particular to the meeting\u2019s agenda based on membership\u2019s observances and expertise from the field.
